What WarpRead collects, what it does not, and who else is involved. Written to be read rather than skimmed past.

Documents you open in WarpRead’s tools are processed entirely inside your browser. PDFs, Word documents and pasted text are parsed by JavaScript running on your own device. They are never uploaded to a server, never stored by us, and never seen by anyone else. The same is true of everything you type into the study tools — flashcards, notes, essay plans and timers all save to your own browser’s storage.
WarpRead does, however, use third-party analytics to understand how the site is used, and it carries third-party advertising. Those services set cookies and collect data about your visit. This page explains exactly which ones, and how to opt out.
WarpRead does not ask you to create an account, and it does not collect your name, email address or payment details.
The following never leaves your browser. It is not transmitted to WarpRead or to anyone else, and we cannot read it:
.pdf, .docx and .txt documents are parsed locally and held in memory.localStorage so they are still there when you return on the same device and browser.localStorage.Clearing your browser’s site data removes all of it permanently. Because we never receive a copy, we cannot restore it for you — use each tool’s export, copy or print option if you want a durable backup.
Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
If any additional third-party advertising vendors or ad networks serve ads on WarpRead, they will be named on this page, with a link to their own policy and opt-out.
Two analytics services run on this site. Both are disclosed here in full.
Vercel Analytics records aggregate page views and performance timings. It is designed to work without cookies and without cross-site identifiers, and it does not build a profile of you. See the Vercel privacy policy.
Microsoft Clarity records how people interact with pages — clicks, scrolling and mouse movement — and can replay anonymised sessions so we can find usability problems. Clarity sets cookies and processes data on Microsoft’s servers. It is configured to mask text content by default, but you should assume that your interactions with the page are recorded. Neither service receives the contents of files you open in the reader, because those files never reach the network at all.
The classic books in the library are fetched from Project Gutenberg when you open one, and cached in your browser afterwards. Cover images and some decorative photography are loaded from Project Gutenberg and Pexels. Loading an image or a book file means your browser contacts those services directly, and they will see your IP address and browser details as a result.
If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before any advertising or analytics cookies that require it are set. You can change or withdraw that consent at any time through the consent settings link on this site, and you can block cookies entirely in your browser settings.
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because WarpRead holds no account and stores nothing that identifies you on its own servers, most of these rights are exercised directly against the third parties named above, or simply by clearing your browser storage. For anything else, get in touch.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its sale or sharing. WarpRead does not sell personal information. Opting out of personalised advertising through the links above also opts you out of the sharing that advertising involves.
WarpRead is not directed at children under 13, and personalised advertising is not served to users identified as under 13.
If the services used on this site change — a new analytics tool, a different ad network — this page is updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top changes with it.
